Run Streak 308: Mount Rainier edition
Today, on my run streak day 308, I was fortunate enough to run trails in the shadow of the magnificent and slightly surreal Mount Rainier, WA, USA. Specifically I ran 18,2 kilometres up and down the Ranger Creek Trail. The vertical ascent on the run was approximately 1,1 kilometres which my legs feel very keenly now. 😀
I realized today something I’ve noticed before but never put the finger on: forest earth smells different in the US compared to Sweden. Not so strange, maybe. Especially not here, as the earth here is volcanic. Check this cool volcanic cliff!
The trail was switchbacks galore! Check this out for a feel for it:
It was a gloriously lonely trail run. During my hours on and around the trail, I only three rangers, eight mountain bikers, a frog, a couple of birds, a squirrel and a few insects. This was one of the cool views from my run (Mt. Rainier was hiding in the clouds..):
Tomorrow morning I look forward to run in Seattle’s Ravenna Park, which apparently features trails to run! Great!
